This historic hillside village, a picturesque white village in Andalucía, about a short drive from Granada, is the inspiring location for this art retreat. Artists of every skill level – including novices – will discover how to conceive and execute non-representational pieces. A portion of the time will be spent outside, working on structured activities in the open. These sketches and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the workspace, with guests completing a number of interpretive scenes in acrylics to be displayed in the village. The group has sole use of the venue, which is built around an open courtyard and has a sun terrace with views over the hills. The cost encompasses five days of painting tuition; full board; and an trip to the nearby fortress and other points of interest.

Vegetarian Cooking in Portugal

This sun-drenched foodie getaway, located at a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Attendees will master the art of meze spreads, take part in a hands-on falafel session, perfect mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains like a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the local market and a nearby winery to taste Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for strolls by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or swim in the pool. The villa, a renovated rural property, has five bedrooms, as well as glamping tents in the grounds.

Street Dance in High Wycombe

Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an uplifting, inclusive weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The format throughout the camp is a party-style warm-up session, followed by three hour-and-a-half workshops teaching different urban dance forms, then an hour-long jam to show off new moves. Dancers are divided into levels based on skill level, so it is perfect for those who are completely new to street dance, all the way to experienced performers or teachers. The camp doesn’t include lodging but there are a number of hostels and hotels within walking distance, and it is under an hour by rail into central London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in St Ives

St Ives is the ideal setting for a maritime music retreat. Participants will learn historic sailing songs from a folk singer and vocal coach, and have a go at writing their own. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The retreat is held in a rural hotel overlooking the bay. Full board are provided, including a Cornish cream tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals. Grog, unfortunately, is not provided. Creative Writing in Greece

Author and tutor Greg Mosse conducts the regular sessions on this authors' getaway. He covers everything from story structure, character development, locations and tension, to submitting work to agents. A co-host, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The retreat is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the Lefka Ori – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages are set around a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to come along).
