American-Palestinian Youth Freed After Nine-Month Period in Israel's Detention

A American-Palestinian adolescent who spent 270 days in Israel's custody without charge has been freed.
Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida accused of stone-throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.
The US state department applauded the teenager's freedom.
Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.
Family described him as visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.
In a statement, family spokesperson expressed the family's "immense relief".
The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.
"At this moment, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed urgent medical care he needs after being subjected to Israel's abuse and brutal treatment over several months."
US officials announced ongoing to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to the state department and the White House, urging greater action to secure his release.
Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four who runs an ice cream business in Florida, had earlier stated his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.
There were no visits nor direct contact since the arrest, learning information solely about his son's condition through judicial records.
He stayed without charge at Ofer detention facility in the West Bank.
Additionally housing adult prisoners, featuring prisoners sentenced for major terrorist activities and homicide.

Many have never been charged while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, say some have suffered mistreatment and torture.
After the teenager's freedom, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.
The dual national youth according to health authorities was beaten to death by radical settlers amid clashes in July.
During that period, the Israeli military said authorities were looking into accounts of a Palestinian was deceased.
Mohammed and Sayfollah were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment from Tampa.
No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.
"We expect US authorities to ensure our family's safety," the uncle stated.
