Tributes Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A court order issued a security hold on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the tragedy, public figures offered different comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser could have stepped in when the decision to comment on the tragedy was made.
